Often, the behaviours last longer than the situations that created them, but I keep going back to them - like nail-biting, or an ex I know better than to call. Maybe they don’t work, but they’re familiar - you always know the outcome, even if it’s a bad one.
You can train for a marathon. You know exactly how long it’s going to be. And most importantly, even though marathons are long - they end. There’s an end! And at the end, you’ve run a marathon, you’ve achieved something!
